Sanctions advice and representation

The Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Act 2018 gives the Secretary of State power to impose economic and other sanctions where he considers it appropriate to apply them for the purpose of complying with any ‘international obligation’. This power has given birth to a raft of secondary legislation giving the UK power to take draconian steps based on relatively low threshold tests.

Whilst sanctions are in force in connection with entities associated with a number of countries, there has been a whole raft of recent legislation which has followed the recent Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Our regulatory team can assist with advice and representation regarding sanctions imposed by HM Treasury and policed by the Office of Sanctions Financial Implementation (OFSI). Please call us on 020 7183 8950 or email at law@brettwilson.co.uk.
